Obscurity

Winter'23 | "Obscurity" series (open)

As a linguist, I just love this word. It says so much...
(əbˈskjurɪti) NOUN Word forms: plural -ties
  • the state or quality of being obscure
  • the condition of being unknown - He lived in obscurity for years before winning acclaim
  • uncertainty of meaning or expression; ambiguity
  • an unknown or unimportant person or thing
  • darkness; dimness; indistinctness

As a neurodivergent person who has been trying to understand people (myself included) better and thus has studied human nature for as long as I remember, starting with psychology and psychiatry and ending with neuroscience, I can't but see the relevance of this word in conjunction with people. Not every person understands, unfortunately, the importance of neocortex development and critical thinking on the path to becoming a better human being, empathetic, open-minded, generous, smart, holistic.

As an artist, I aspire to express everything I said above using visual language. The series is devoted to my artistic research and observations on this topic.

At this stage, it consists of four core works, all of which have "Obscurity" in their titles and share a similar colour palette. It is an open series that will be expanded with more diverse works later.
